GUIDELINES

The West Africa Oil and Gas Development Programme (WESTAFRICAOIL), is a statutory body for oil-producing Countries in Western Africa, established in 1993 to enhance capacity in the upstream petroleum sector of the participating countries. WESTAFRICAOIL builds capacity through training, institutional development, scholarships, and the promotion of science, engineering, and technology. The establishment of WESTAFRICAOIL aligns with the Petroleum (Exploration and Production) Act of the alliance of oil-producing countries in West Africa. Additionally, WESTAFRICAOIL is funded by oil and gas exploration companies in West Africa,WESTAFRICAOIL invites applications from suitably qualified candidates for the West Africa Oil and Gas Development Undergraduate Scholarship Programme for 2025/2026 academic session.

The scholarship scheme was developed to offer candidates the opportunity to benefit from a diversified pool of knowledge and the facilities offered by approved institutions across Nigeria. Under this scheme, candidates are invited to apply through WESTAFRICAOIL to specific programs at the approved listed institutions.

The award includes ₦250,000 per year and a laptop to aid academic performance.

The scholarship is for the 2025/2026 academic session.

The scholarship is limited to WESTAFRICAOIL approved listed institutions in nigeria.

Scholarships will be awarded to all registered and relevant courses in the approved listed institutions.

SELECTION PROCESS AND CRITERIA & REQUIREMENTS

West Africa Oil and Gas Development Undergraduate scholarships selection process is open and transparent , and only candidates who meet the scholarship requirement will be selected .

All submitted education informations will be verified acurately , and only applicants who are verifiable from their respective institutions will be invited for an interview where a selection committee will be constituted to assess their applications and proceed further:


REQUIREMENTS

University Undergraduate Applicants Must:

Be a Nigerian citizen.

Currently be in their first or second year of full-time study in the approved listed Nigerian University.

Have a University Matriculation Number (UME) ID Number or the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) Number to be fully verified (VerifyID charges apply) before applying for the scholarship

Required Documents (Mandatory)

Applicants are advised to scan copies of the following documents and attach them to their online application forms:

A valid white – background passport not more than 3 months old .

A valid means of identification . See below list application forms to enable PTDF to view the O’level white – background passport not more than 3 months old .

The National Identification Number (NIN)

Nigeria passport

National Voter's Card (PVC)

Driver's license


Candidates who successfully scale through the first round of screening will be requested to attend the interviews round with hard copies of their submitted documents and other relevant documents; all applicants are therefore advised to prepare their documents in anticipation.
